OWNER BIOGRAPHIES
KATHRYN SACCO SMITH has worked in special events, fundraising and public relations for over twelve years. Upon graduating from the University of St. Thomas, Kathryn worked as an intern in the public relations office of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, which led to a position with the American Diabetes Association. Kathryn specialized in creating proposals, solicitations and organizing special events. Kathryn also served as the Fundraising Events Coordinator for the Multiple Sclerosis Society where she coordinated special event planning, including the MS 150 Bike Tour, from conception to completion. Prior to forming Smith & Sacco, Ltd., Kathryn worked for the U.S. Fund for UNICEF as a Development Officer in Houston and the Corporate Relations Officer in New York. Kathryn was responsible for all aspects of public relations, media relations, grant writing and special events.
Kathryn is a member of the Houston Junior League, past Junior Chairman of the Houston Ballet Ball, Executive Board Member of the Moores School of Music, member of the Houston Symphony Guild and Baylor Partnership as well as the March of Dimes Guild and United Cerebral Palsy Guild. Kathryn is also a previous Board Member of the Child Development Center, St. Agnes Academy and the Heritage Society. She is also a member of VICTORY, a division of the American Cancer Society.
In 2006, Kathryn was named one of the ABC Channel 13 Women of Distinction at the Crohn's and Colitis Winter Ball. Kathryn is the youngest woman to ever receive this honor in the 20 year history of the award.
